The use of heavy duty machinery in factories and manufacturing units put the floors of these places under constant and heavy stress. This results in early and frequent erosion of these flooring.
Hence, floorings in factories and in production units need special treatment to ensure their durability and strength. This ensures that industrial flooring can withstand the onslaught of heavy machinery stored, used and operated on them.
In order to ensure long and sustained durability, these floorings have to be specially processed using modern techniques that are in accordance with building standards and regulations for construction and durability.
There are various industrial flooring techniques that manufacturing units use to give their flooring some degree of protection from wear and tear. One such technique is floor coating. Here, the floor is given a coating of chemical compounds which protects the design of the flooring and lends it durability.
This technique also makes the commercial floor more slip-resistant, thus protecting the working staff from slipping on them.
Another technique involves the use of floor screeds. In this process, accurately measured and leveled strips are laid on the floor, which act as markers for applying coating or cement.
The accuracy and precision of laying these screeds is determined by the accuracy of the measuring equipment used in it and the skill levels of the machine operating staff. Cement floor screeds ranging from as thin as 3mm to as thick as 100mm can be used over the existing concrete floors to give the industrial flooring a refreshing look.
The heavy and incessant use of machinery could result in various forms of damages to such floors. One of the most common among them is construction joint failure, which can cause major damage to forklift truck
s. Such damages can prove to be costly not only financially but could even prove to be a health and safety issue for workers. Hence, fixing up these joint failures becomes imperative and is done by conducting floor repairs. In this process, the floor joint is replaced by saw cutting both side of the joint and then breaking out the damaged area and filling it with Epoxy Mortar. After this the joint is resealed.
Yet another way to ensure long lasting flooring that is also aesthetically pleasing is resin flooring. Apart from enhancing the working environment, it offers clean and dust-free floor for workers to work on.
High quality resin commercial flooring is much in demand in various sensitive industries like food and drink, pharmaceutical, engineering and automotive sectors. Warehouse floorings are used in extreme and changing temperatures.
These types of industrial floorings need to have high wear resistance property, abrasion resistance property, impact absorption property and light reflection property. Safety is of paramount importance and hence, they need to be seamless and impervious.
Easy installation and effortless cleaning and maintenance are the factors that the customer looks for apart from cost-efficiency and durability. Floorings used in warehouses could be of different types like concrete floors, epoxy floors and synthetic anti-slip floors.
